The Friday Fix: Two Titles

The hive-queen waited outside the starship. One question remained, a riddle that guaranteed a new life, new world.

The Wordmaster quoted,

“Two words for glory.
One word to change everything.
The Magic gives entry.

Ender smiled, finally the game can end.

“Thank you,” he replied. “The answer is gratitude.”

I was struck by the premise on the back cover of the latter.

“Only a very few people through history have realised that the words are a riddle, and that once you solve them a new world will appear before your eyes.”

And then a quote on the first page of the book. ‘ By this means you will acquire the glory of the whole word.’ The Emerald Tablet (circa 5,000–3,000 BC)

Both sayings referred to the concept of gratitude.

Ender’s Game ended with the search for “a new world where the hive-queen could awaken and thrive in peace.”

I decided to write a story that combined these concepts.
