week 8 summary

So this week we read about ethics and security in regaurds to e-commerce, and how the internet and how it is used for e-commerce messes with many of the already existing social media and business relationships. Now a days, people, businesses, and even political organizations are learning that there are many new pit falls and rules of what is considered “acceptable behavior”.

A lot of individuals and businesses have benefited from the commercialization of the internet. There have also been downfalls, the pros and cons of how to use the power of the internet responsibly have to be considered a lot by the people and companies that are paving the way for the new world of e-commerce and internet marketing because they will set the standards of what is and isnt acceptable in this field.

What basic assumption does the study of ethics make about individuals?

How is the opt-in model of informed consent different from opt-out? In which type of model does the consumer retain more control?

What are some of the tactics businesses that are illegal in the United States use to operate outside the law on the Internet?
