UNDERSTANDING THE HOLY SPIRIT

The holy spirit is apart of the God head but no less important than the father or the son. The holy spirit is often mistaken for a force or something, but the holy spirit is very much a person he I the spirit of God. God sent the holy spirit to continue the work which Christ started on the earth. By his help men would rid themselves of their sinful nature, and turn to Gods love. The holy spirit just like Christ does not operate on their own, but by the will of God. The bible helps us to understand in many ways that the holy spirit is a person not a personal thing but a being.

Whenever the bible speaks or refers to the holy spirit the bible uses the pronoun “ he” not “it”. Eg (John 16:13–14 KJV Howbeit when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into, all truth: but he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.) The bible makes clear the person hood of the holy spirit even in the Genesis account the holy spirit was personally active in the work of creation.

The holy spirit is one who cannot be fully comprehended by the human mind as he is the extension of God and we cannot understand the full natures of God. However, with the help of the holy spirit, we can be in a position to have relations with God. The Holy spirit came as a comforter the same comforter of whom Jesus spoke about in (John 16:7 KJV Nevertheless I tell you the truth- it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.) The Holy spirits work is to aid us in understanding the will of the maker. He cannot operate on his own, but the holy spirit can only do what God instructs.

The holy spirit came so that he might reveal all things spiritually and bring understanding so that we might be in a better position to fully understand who God truly is, and to have a closer relationship with him. The holy spirit is not one who forces hi will, but one who enters upon invitation before he begins his work. We should not take the holy spirit for granted as he is no less than the father or the son, but he is equally the same for they may differ in character, but are the embodiment of one unique person.
