Binaural Beats

Have you ever heard of binaural beats?

A binaural beat is an illusion created by the brain when we listen to two tones with slightly different frequencies at the same time.

When we humans listen to two sounds with a different frequency, our brain tries to compensate for this difference by changing its frequency, creating the perception of a third sound, it is like the brain locates the sound. To create a binaural beat you must have a sound coming in each ear, both create the binaural beat in your ears.

These are particular frequencies of sounds that stimulate our listening and have an effect in our brain, helping with concentration, relaxation, studying or improving memory. For instance, put on your headphones and try to listen to binaural beats while in meditation or while focusing on some task.

Human states of mind and emotions are related to the binaural frequencies. For instance, Delta waves are associated with a deep psycho — physical relaxation, while Theta waves are a characteristic of the mind when we are engaged in an activity which requires creativity and imagination.

There are 5 types of brain waves frequencies: Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta & Delta.

Each of these brain waves controls a wide variety of states of mind or consciousness, from sleeping state to active awake state. While in a day all of this waves can work simultaneously, there is one that is more predominant and active than others, and that will be the wave frequency that determines your current state of mind.

It is a way of stimulating your brain with different ‘pulsations’, every single one with a different frequency. Like listening to calming music. As well as meditation and other techniques, binaural beats can help us improve our wellness and sense of calm. However, taking our time and dedication to reach our goals and purposes is the first step, these are just some ‘extra’ stimulus we choose in order to reach our goals. But, in the middle of our busy lives we can always choose to bring awareness to those purposes we have.

Everything in our daily lives causes our brain waves to become more or less balanced.

We have the choice to find that balance in the everyday.

From a personal experience, I started to listen binaural beats when I noticed a lack of focus on whatever important (or not so important) task I had to do.
