Tips For Designing a Small Kitchen

A kitchen is a special place in the home and an important one. So many memories are made there, so it’s no surprise that some of us dream of having luxurious custom spaces! Even though smaller kitchens may present functionality and style integration challenges, don’t worry — we have seen all shapes and sizes when designing unique yet functional custom solutions for our clients. You won’t need to sacrifice on either end; you can still enjoy a beautiful space tailored to your needs!

When making the most out of a small kitchen, thoughtful planning is essential. Consider carefully how you’ll use each section and what items should be stored for easy access. Place your refrigerator, sink, and stovetop within proximity so they can all work together seamlessly — ensure there’s sufficient countertop space too! Remember to consider cabinetry options, as this will help provide adequate storage solutions while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing aesthetic. Finally, Visualise walking through your living areas or simply imagining the perfect layout; this way, you’re guaranteed both practicality and style from every inch of space available!

Choose a bright colour palette to maximise the atmosphere of her small space. You can go for warm wood tones, soft white and grey elements, dramatic black appliances, and brass hardware that complement each other flawlessly. By applying this strategy consistently throughout all sides of the room, it creates an impression much more significant than its actual size — offering a welcoming aesthetic style with inviting appeal!

Even in the tightest of spaces, storage doesn’t have to come at the cost of feeling cramped. Instead, use creative touches such as range hoods and open shelves with glass fronts to break up cabinetry. For example, we recently implemented this strategy for our Hillside Remodel by installing attractive shelving near a sink with no window view, bringing beauty while offering additional practical space!

Lighting can make a small kitchen feel larger, brighter, and more inviting. From pendants above the sink to sconces over open shelving or a window, creating multiple light layers will increase visibility within your space. Consider installing flush-mounted lighting on the ceiling for an additional layer of illumination that will brighten up even tight corners! With thoughtful placement strategy and creative accents, you can create a cosy yet spacious atmosphere in no time.

Streamline your kitchen countertop and maximise limited space with stylish, practical accessories. Put away bulky appliances when not in use to reduce clutter and open up visual space around you, then display beautiful pieces that also provide function! Think a ceramic crock for cooking utensils, jars full of treats ready-to-go, an attractive brush set for washing dishes — even a matching soap pairing that looks like it belongs!

Space should never limit your ambition! When designing a smaller kitchen, careful consideration of every detail is vital. We achieved this in our Denver Tudor project by carefully selecting each element and making them all features within the design — from cabinet hardware to window treatments, appliances, and flooring colours that followed a consistent colour palette. Even though there are many elements at play here, sticking to one scheme ensures everything works together perfectly for an impactful yet cohesive look.

Let your culinary dreams come to life! With the help of a kitchen designer, you can create an elegant and functional space that is sure to impress. Experience customised cabinetry with chef-inspired appliances for a unique cooking area tailored just for you.
