In My Garden

Sitting in my garden as the late afternoon sun slowly casts shadows of light that glistens on the last leaves as the season changes. The bees play hide and seek in the bushes. The hummingbirds play territorial games for the coveted feeder.

I see this time as the pinnacle between two seasons at the apex of the tipping point. Summer wanting to hang on for a few more days, but autumn making it’s presence known with early sunsets and cool nights.

Surely I miss sitting in my garden as fall turns to winter with the promise of rebirth in the spring. It saddens me when all the patio furniture and decorations will be laid to rest to hibernate on a garage shelf.

The rose bushes will with a last yawn tuck in for a well deserved rest. The color in the garden will become browns and yellows. Autumn will have the last hurray with a blaze of color that delights and amazes.

Soon the goblins will have come and gone replaced by the aroma of turkey filling the house. It heralds a time of family drawing near to remember times past and to create future memories.
